Privacy Policy — GhostSignal

1. Overview

GhostSignal ("the App") is a cellular network security analyzer developed by ghost1o1. This privacy policy explains how GhostSignal handles user data. We are committed to transparency and user privacy — the App is designed to operate fully on-device with no external data transmission unless explicitly enabled by the user.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Device-Local Data (always processed on-device)

The App collects and processes the following data exclusively on your device to provide core functionality:

• Cellular network parameters: MCC, MNC, LAC, TAC, CID, PCI, signal strength (RSSI), timing advance (TA), cipher configuration (A5/0, A5/1, A5/2, A5/3), radio access technology (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, NR)
• Device network identifiers: IMEI, IMSI (read via standard Android TelephonyManager API — used solely for network identity verification against tower parameters)
• Location data: Approximate and precise location (used for cell tower triangulation and distance estimation — required by Android OS for cell tower APIs)
• Cell broadcast messages: Emergency alerts and network-originated broadcast messages
• SMS metadata: (optional) Silent SMS detection, SMS-based remote commands — SMS content is read only when explicitly enabled and only for the specific feature purposes

This data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device and is never transmitted off-device unless you explicitly opt in to premium features (see Section 3).

2.2 Premium Feature Data (opt-in)

If you subscribe to GhostSignal PRO and explicitly enable the following features, limited data may be transmitted:

CrowdSync (opt-in):

• Anonymized cell tower observations (MCC, MNC, LAC, CID, RSSI, TA, cipher type, RAT type)
• A random device pseudonym (not linked to your identity, IMEI, or Google account)
• Purpose: contributes to a community trust-scoring database for anomaly detection
• This data CANNOT be linked back to you or your device

API Upload (opt-in):

• If you configure a custom API endpoint, scan data will be transmitted to that URL
• You control the endpoint — no data is sent to GhostSignal developers

3. Data We DO NOT Collect

GhostSignal does NOT collect or transmit:

• Personal identity information (name, email, phone number, contacts)
• Google account information
• Device contacts, call logs, or messages (beyond SMS for the specific features you enable)
• Camera, microphone, or media files
• Browsing history or app usage data
• Advertising identifiers

4. Data Sharing

• No data is sold to third parties, ever
• No data is used for advertising — the App contains no ads and no analytics SDKs
• CrowdSync data is anonymized and aggregated — individual observations cannot be traced back to specific users
• Purchase verification for premium features is handled exclusively through Google Play Billing — we do not process or store payment information

5. Data Security

• All network communications (CrowdSync, API upload) use HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Local database is stored in the App's private sandboxed storage (not accessible to other apps)
• No user accounts or cloud authentication — the App operates without login

6. Data Retention & Deletion

• Device-local data: Stored until you uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes all App data.
• CrowdSync data: Anonymized observations are retained in the community database indefinitely (they cannot be linked to you, so they cannot be deleted on request)
• Purchase data: Managed by Google Play — GhostSignal does not store purchase history

7. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access, rectify, or erase your personal data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability

Since GhostSignal processes minimal personal data (and most data stays on your device), exercising these rights is straightforward: uninstall the App to delete all local data, or disable premium features to stop data transmission.

8. Children's Privacy

GhostSignal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via the Play Store listing.
